(not in order of priority, but from random thought)
she is...
a woman, a friend, a mother, a neighbor, a lover, an artist, a seamstress, a teacher and instructor, a gardener, a sailor, and some might say a very energized person.
she loves...
textiles and fibers, food, cooking, gardening, having lunch with friends, sewing, creating, playing and talking, antique shops, the farmer's market, shopping local, collecting maps, animals, reading, trying new recipes, meditating, traveling, kayaking, sailing on her sailboat named Ruby, being outdoors - especially in the woods by a lake, and if the old knees permit; biking.
She also is very interested in recycling, composting, living a more simplified life and learning not to consume as much as she used to.
what she'd like to do...
travel to indigenous countries and learn their fiber art techniques, go to Japan and study shibori, learn to quilt like the professionals, open a sewing/fiber arts studio for like minded people to come and share, learn, explore, and have fun creating, be adventurous and sail down the Mississippi or St. Lawrence seaway to the Caribbean Islands, not be afraid to ski down that big... mountain, and see everyone living a more sustainable life so that there is a world left to play in with her grandchildren.
Besides all of these random thoughts, ideas and musings...
Her first love and passion is textiles. Next is surface design; cutting, piecing, sewing, printing all of these creations together.
Margie finds herself to be most of all, a teacher of how to be creative, whether it's through surface design classes, textile classes, sewing classes, or fashion design classes, she loves to see the spark light up when a student creates their own work, from pre-school on up to adult.
Margie has had a creative coats business called "Screaming Women" for ten years and left the business to pursue her MFA in surface design and installation art. While in graduate school, she was selected to study in the galleries program and became the art coordinator of the library galleries.
